DAN PERLMAN: No Notes, Except These.

I’m a comedian, writer, director person from New York City. I also have a cat.

Previously, I co-created, wrote, and starred in Showtime’s critically-acclaimed comedy series, Flatbush Misdemeanors. The series’ lauded two-season run holds a 100% Rating on Rotten Tomatoes, earning unanimous praise from outlets including The New York Times, Variety, Roger Ebert, TIME, and The Guardian. I made my directorial debut in the Flatbush episode, “boomerang,” which Vulture praised for its “masterful direction.” That was nice of them to say. I’ve also written and directed the award-winning short films, Cramming and Practice Space, which are both special to me.

Before that, I co-created the prize-winning digital series of Flatbush, which became Oscar-qualified after winning Grand Jury Awards in its film festival run—laying the groundwork for the Showtime adaptation.

I’ve done other things. As a stand-up, I’ve been featured on Comedy Central, named one of the New Faces in the prestigious Montreal Just For Laughs Festival, worked as a regular at The Comedy Cellar in NYC, and headlined venues across the country, including The Kennedy Center in DC. I released a stand-up album, Emergency Contact, which you can hear on all audio platforms or just on my YouTube channel for free. I’m a longtime regular guest on SiriusXM’s Bennington. I wrote and sold an animated pilot, That’s My Bus!, to FOX. My writing has appeared in The New Yorker.

Currently, I’m Artist-in-Residence at Northwestern University’s new Center for Tech, Policy, & Dialogue. I’m also Adjunct Faculty at Stony Brook Manhattan and Montclair State, as well as a Teaching Artist at Harlem School of the Arts.
